The DITRA-HEAT membrane is available in both mat and roll formats and is designed to secure the system heating cables and serves as a universal substrate for tile coverings. Similar to DITRA, the original uncoupling membrane, DITRA-HEAT provides uncoupling to neutralize the differential movement stresses between the substrate and the tile covering to prevent cracked grout and tile, waterproofing to protect moisture-sensitive substrates, vapor management, and support.

Crack Resistance, Waterproofing & Vapor Management

DITRA-HEAT is the only electric floor warming system that directly incorporates uncoupling technology within the system. With the proven performance of DITRA included in DITRA-HEAT, you can feel secure that your tiled floor won't crack. DITRA-HEAT provides uncoupling through its geometric configuration, which allows for in-plane movement that effectively neutralizes the differential movement stresses between the substrate and the tile, thus eliminating the major cause of cracking and delaminating of the tiled surface.

DITRA-HEAT features a polypropylene composition which protects the substrate from moisture penetration. This is particularly important in bathrooms, kitchens, and any environment that may be affected by moisture. The free space on the underside of DITRA-HEAT provides a route for excess moisture and vapor to escape from the substrate that could otherwise cause damage to the tile covering above.

Customizable heating zones

With DITRA-HEAT, the installer has the advantage of placing loose heating cables in the matting wherever heat is desired to achieve customized heating zones, or placed throughout the room to heat the entire floor. The unique configuration of DITRA-HEAT enables the cables to be held in the matting securely, while creating a free space to provide uncoupling. This design also provides for mechanical anchoring of the thin-set mortar to the matting.

Quick and simple installation

The DITRA-HEAT membrane is designed to secure the heating cable without clips or fasteners and the installer does not need to encapsulate the cable in a leveling compound. Tile can be installed immediately after the cable, so installation is quick and simple.

Support Load/Distribution with Minimum height

DITRA-HEAT minimizes assembly thickness for easy transitions to lower surface coverings, and is ideal for any room in the home. Loads are transferred from the tile covering through DITRA-HEAT's column-like mortar structures to the substrate. Since DITRA-HEAT is virtually incompressible within the tile assembly, the advantages of uncoupling are achieved without sacrificing point load distribution capabilities.
