Taurus 3 Ring Saw - Gemini Saws
The Gemini Taurus 3 Ring Saw by Gemini Saws is an extremely versatile, light duty ring saw capable of cutting a wide variety of materials including tile, stone, glass, plexiglass, and various metals such as brass, silver, and aluminum, and more. Its ring saw blade features a hollow center and is a virtual “ring” of stainless steel.
Portability - Can be Converted to Hand Held Saw
The Gemini Taurus 3 Ring Saw’s water system is completely self contained allowing for easy portability. For ultimate maneuverability, the saw can be converted into a hand held saw, allowing you to bring the saw directly to the material. The saw also features an integrated spot light and stabilizer foot. The Gemini Taurus 3 Ring Saw is ideal for professional tile installers, glass and metals workers, artists, DIY enthusiasts, and more that require intricate cuts that just are not possible with conventional cutters.
Versatilty with Different Available Blades
Several different blades are available for the Taurus 3 Ring Saw with the appropriate blade depending on the job at hand. The Standard Gemini Taurus 2 Blade is a general purpose blade that features a diamond grit coating allowing for omni-directional cutting or for the material to be fed into the saw blade from any direction including forward, backward, and diagonal.
The Wire Blades including the Standard Wire Blade, Slim Wire Blade, and Dichroic Blade are ideal for cutting glass, tile, and other materials with intricate designs. All of the wire blades feature 360 degree diamond coating for omni-directional cutting.
The Mega Blade is used for mainly front and back cutting. It is the strongest blade available and is ideal for dense materials. The Mega Blade is included with the Taurus 3. With the exception of the Mega Blade, blades are interchangeable between the Gemini Taurus 2 and Gemini Taurus 3 Ring Saws.
NOTE: The Taurus 3 comes with a Flocked Belt (Gemini Part # 0108) installed. The Flocked Belt has a kevlar flocking and thicker grooves for better wear with more abrasive blades including the Mega Blade, Slicer Blade, and Speed Blade.

Available Gemini Taurus 3 Ring Saw Blades
Gemini Taurus 3 Mega Blade:
The Mega Blade features a tear drop shape and is ideal for cutting dense materials. This the strongest blade available. It won't flex, ensuring you get the most accurate cut each time. Unlike other omni-directional blades available, this blade is designed primarily for forward and backward cuts. The material should be slowly fed into the blade and not forced through so as to not damage the saw itself.
Gemini Taurus 2 Standard Blade:
The Standard Taurus 2 Blade (works with the Taurus 3 Saw) is completely coated with a diamond grit, allowing for omni-directional cuts. The blade can be used to cut tile, glass, hard plastics, and non-ferrous metals.
Gemini Wire Blades:
Standard Wire Blade: The Standard Wire Blade is a versatile blade that can cut a variety of materials, making it a good, general purpose blade. It has omni-directional cutting capabilities due to its 360 degree diamond grit coating.
Slim Wire Blade: The Slim Wire Blade features the most intricate cutting capability of all the Ring Saw Blades. It cuts extreme and detailed designs, omni-directional. It is ideal for cutting non-ferrous metals, but it does, however, lose strength due its smaller size and should be used when its size is beneficial.
Fine Wire / Dichroic Blade: The Fine Wire / Dichroic Blade is specifically for cutting dichroic glass, iridescent coated glass, and jewelry. It features a 360 degree diamond coating for creating omni-directional, intricate designs that won't chip delicate dichroic finishes, leaving pefect edges. These clean edges mean ower temperatures when firing kiln fired jewelry, resulting in faster firing times and clean, professional results.
Gemini Ring Saw FAQ
Q: What is a Ring Saw?
A: A Ring Saw is a saw designed for cutting glass and tile using a unique and patented design that produces clean and chip free cuts. It is similar to a band saw and radial saw, combining the best aspects of both.
Q: What type of materials does the Ring Saw cut?
A: The Ring Saw can cut a wide variety of materials including stone, marble, granite, tile, plexi-glass, glass, nonferrous metals, and acrylic. It is often used for cutting tile and glass.
Q: How is a Ring Saw different from other types of saws, such a band saw or reciprocating saw?
A: A Ring Saw spins in a perfect circle, producing little or no vibration, and can cut in all directions. A band saw, however, spins in an ellipse, cutting in a forward motion. Reciprocating saws, such as jig saws, move in a push and pull reciprocating motion, rather than a rotating motion. The vibration on the upward stroke causes delicate pieces to be more prone to breakage and to wear out more quickly.
Q: What kind of blade does a Ring Saw use?
A: The Ring Saw blades (with the exception of the 4” solid blade) feature a hollow center, giving the ability to make tight radius cuts as well as straight lines. Different blades are available for specific cutting applications, such as for cutting delicate glass or for aggressive straight cutting. The high quality blade cuts with far less chipping because of the high torque and slower blade RPM.
Q: Where is the water pump, and do I always have to use water?
A: The Ring Saw is self contained with no pump. The saw is designed so the belt that drives the blade also picks up water and delivers to the cut. Water should always be used.
Q: How long do the parts last before needing to be replaced?
A: The drive belt has an average lifespan of two to three blades. The blades often have superior blade life because they spin at a much slower RPM and with more torque than the average wet saw blade.
