Hydro Ban Waterproofing Membrane
Laticrete Hydro Ban Waterproofing Membrane is an innovative liquid waterproofing membrane that literally goes on as easy as paint. It can be applied right out of the pail using a paint brush, roller, or trowel straight on to any appropriate substrate including concrete, brick masonry, cement plaster, Gypsum wallboard*, exterior glue plywood*, ceramic tile and stone**, cement terrazzo**, cement backer board* (be sure to refer to instructions for complete information on suitable substrates).
Hydro Ban Waterproofing Membrane is a liquid rubber polymer that forms a flexible and seamless waterproof seal. What sets Hydro Ban apart from other waterproofing membranes is fabric is NOT required for the corners or seams. Simply paint the waterproofing membrane on, let it cure, and you're ready to flood test. In addition to providing superior waterproofing, the membrane also provides anti-fracture protection up 1/8" (3 mm) over shrinkage and other non-structural cracks.
Hydro Barrier Waterproofing Membrane
Laticrete Hydro Barrier Waterproofing Membrane is a liquid waterproofing membrane that is a more economical version of Hydro Ban. It is liquid rubber polymer that can be painted on vertical and horizontal surfaces in both interior and exterior applications. Just like Hydro Ban, Hydro Barrier will provide superior waterproofing for showers, tub surrounds, swimming pools, fountains, kitchens, and anywhere else that waterproofing is needed and will also provide anti-fracture protection up to 1/8" (3mm) over shrinkage and other non-structural cracks.
The easy-to-use system allows tile, stone, and brick to be installed directly over Hydro Barrier. It is important to note, however, that Hydro Barrier requires waterproofing fabric, such as the Laticrete Waterproofing Membrane Fabric, in all corners and seams.
Hydro Ban vs. Hydro Barrier
We are often asked what is the difference between Hydro Ban and Hydro Barrier. They are very similar products and both will provide superior waterproofing in an easy-to-use liquid rubber polymer form that can be painted directly onto the substrate without any special mixing or applying technique. Additionally, both can be flood tested in 24 hours as long as full cure has been reached.
The key difference is Hydro Barrier requires fabric to be used in all the corners and seams while Hydro Ban does not.
There is also a color difference - Hydro Ban is sage color and will dry to an olive green color while Hydro Barrier is a light blue and will dry to a dark blue color.
