Protecto Wrap Whisper Mat CS - Anti-Fracture & Sound Control Membrane

The Protecto Wrap Whisper Mat CS is a “peel & stick” membrane that provides sound control and crack suppression in ceramic and natural stone tile installations. The Whisper Mat CS is both a sound control membrane and an anti-fracture membrane that is designed to be used as an underlayment for ceramic and stone tile flooring. The anti-fracture membrane will isolate the finished flooring from sub-floor cracks.

Whisper Mat CS High Quality Composite

Constructed of a Cross Linked Poly-Olefin foam sheet with a Rubberized Aggressive Adhesive and Reinforced Polyester Mesh Fabric, the Protecto Wrap Mat CS has the strength and flexibility to protect tiles from cracking that can be a result of horizontal movement in the substrate. The anti-fracture membrane can withstand structural movement and concrete shrinkage cracks up to 3/8”, absorbing the stress to protect the finished tile.

Easy to Install Anti-Fracture Membrane

With a “peel & stick” application, the anti-fracture membrane is simple and easy to install. The membrane can be applied to variety of structurally sound and clean surfaces including concrete, plywood, gypsum underlayments, precast floor-panels, OSB, ceramic tile, natural stone, leveling and patching compounds, cement backer board, existing VAT, VCT, and vinyl floors.

Priming & Tiling the Whisper Mat CS

Before installing the Protecto Wrap Whisper Mat CS anti-fracture and sound reduction membrane, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from any dirt, grease, wax, paint, and oil. The subfloor should always be primed with Protecto Wrap 6000 Primer. To ensure a good bond with the Whisper Mat CS, allow the primer to dry for 20 -30 minutes.

Once the primer is applied and allowed to dry, the Whisper Mat CS membrane can be cut to the correct length, the Release Paper removed, and the membrane pressed into place. After the Whisper Mat CS is adhered, a latex-modified thin set mortar can be applied and ceramic or stone tile installed.
